Princes made their personal additives so there’s a mixture styles. Prague Castle had four major reconstruction, but it holds his classical adjustment appearance it take on in 18 century during the reign of Mariin Theresa.
Castle has gamma courtyard namely has always been seat Czech princes as well as official seat. I beg your pardon at least half a day (it will exclude from time for museum visitors) if you want to inquire into it at a depth.

What will we do with the concrete monuments?
There won’t be any. If the Czech Republic wins the Olympic Games candidacy, only three new sport centres will be needed. Aqua Park in Šutka will be nearly or completely finished by then. The arena at Letnany Exhibition Centre will be converted into a ceremonial stadium and a velodrome for cyclists is planned to be built. The main condition is that all of the facilities will be utilized both before and after the Games. That is what we are putting forward, we don’t intend to become another Peking.
Aren’t the sport centres going to destroy remaining greenery?
In Prague there isn’t lack of greenery. On the contrary, development of the Olympic complex is an opportunity to increase the amount of green areas. Prague won’t lose a single tree because of the Olympic Games!
How are the Olympic Games going to influence the lives of ordinary Praguers?
It will bring them an unforgettable sporting experience the like of which they would have to travel half way across the world to see. Millions of people will never have an opportunity to experience the Olympic Games in their own city. The Olympic Games won’t significantly change city life. The city is not inflatable. Instead of the admirers of Gothic architecture, the city will be visited by sports fans.
Is Prague going to manage? Won’t we make a fool of ourselves?
Why shouldn’t we manage? Why do we always underestimate ourselves, we are no worse than any other city in the world!
Why does Prague bid for the Olympic Games if there is no profit involved?
This is not true. Since 1976 (Montreal) all the Olympic Games have been profitable.
Why is it that so far all the organisers have gone over budget and the Games cost more than was originally planned?
We need to distinguish between direct and indirect costs and costs covering the towns and countries development. Athens has a new air port thanks to the Games and London completely renovated Lee Valley district. These countries were able to afford investments only because of the profit they expected from the Games.
Why does Prague spend millions on the Olympic candidature and small towns and villages are loosing money?
Candidacy costs are fully covered from the OPS Prague budget. Founders of the organisation are the Czech Olympic Committee and the capital city Prague. The candidacy hasn’t and won’t cost any village or town anything.
Won’t the new infrastructure buildings harm the already weak traffic situation?
On the contrary, the infrastructure buildings should be a benefit to the traffic situation.
How can we organise the Olympic Games without sufficient traffic infrastructure?
Currently it wouldn’t be possible; however, in 2016 there will be sufficient infrastructure regardless of the Olympic Games. The fact that the completion of a city ring road has been dragging on is not related to the Olympic candidacy. On the contrary, the candidacy can become a reason to keep to schedule. This doesn’t concern just a Prague circuit road.
Why the Prague Olympic Games?
It is not going to be just a matter of Prague. All the projects are in line with the slogans “Olympic Games for the Czech Republic” and “We are all part of the national team”. Thanks to the Olympic Games candidature 130 sport centres in 75 Czech cities will be developed.
Will the Czech Republic apply to hold the Paralympic Games in addition to the Olympic Games?
The Paralympic Games are a part of the Olympic Games so if we succeed in our effort to host the Olympic Games we will automatically become a host of the Paralympic Games. The Paralympic sportsmen will rotate with the Olympic sportsmen in the Olympic village.
When are we going to find out which cities will be the IOC choice for 2016?
The organiser of the XXXI Olympic Games will be chosen from the so called Candidate Cities at the 121st IOC election meeting in Copenhagen in October 2009. The names of Candidate Cities will be published in June 2008.

IOC (International Olympic Committee) chose four candidate cities - Chicago, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid. Prague didn’t advance among candidate cities for the year 2016.
Reaction to the IOC decision:
Pavel Bém, Prague’s Mayor:
”The news didn’t surprise me. It is also not at all a tragedy. We went into the competition about the year 2016 with very small chances because of 2012 Olympic Summer Games that will take place in London. On top of that, this time our competitors were really better. Rio de Janeiro didn’t already make it twice among candidate cities and Brazil still dreams about Olympic Games. Since the very beginning we have been declaring that our first Olympic steps would indeed be self-confident but at the same time it would have an introductory nature. We presented ourselves to the world as a brave city that is interested in Olympic Games and we discovered that the project is perspective, sensible and considered (not at all megalomaniac). We will now further develop it, so it can become a candidate project in 2020. We will further improve all positive aspects; learn from recommendations of IOC and set mistakes right. A task is before us that offers a vision to the whole Czech Republic. This vision is to become a modern and prospering country where in 12 years time will be possible to organize big international sport competitions and maybe also Olympic Games.”
Tomáš Petera, Director of OPS Prague Olympic:
Announcement of candidates met with a huge interest from media and was accompanied by significant safety precautions. There were few dozen TV crews and hundreds of photographs. The announcement itself took just few minutes. Names of cities that are advancing to next stages were read without any further comments. These cities were of course rejoicing in their success, the others can succeed next time. This time Spain and Brazil were the happy ones but in the past both Rio de Janeiro and Seville didn’t even make it among candidate cities. This fact is surely encouraging for Prague as it means that we certainly have hope. At the moment we are waiting for the IOC’s analysis and for the evaluation of our Application file that will help us to make improvements for the competition about the year 2020. We certainly have something to build on.
Karel Tejkal, spokesman of OPS Prague Olympic:
Prague Olympic is a service organisation managed by the capital city Prague’s council. It is financed solely from the city Prague’s budget and from the Olympic Committee. Our organisation will carry on with its activity. We will concentrate on analysis of the Application file’s evaluation and on putting pieces together to achieve that during the next application it will be even more apparent that Olympic candidacy is not about concrete monsters and lost milliards but that the opposite is true. We will work on such a concept that is in tune with the vision of the 2020 Czech Republic as a modern and prospering country. Expenses will be also in the future covered from the city Prague and Czech Olympic Committee’s budge and will be specified on the basis of submitted plans of steps to be carried in following years. What I consider as absolutely essential is the fact that Prague came with a quality and competitive project that also involved minimum expenses – its expenses were about half of the second cheaper project’s ones and one tenth of the most expensive project’s expenses.

Czech’s nomination to host the Olympic Games in 2016, or possibly in 2020, is already underway. This is a third try by Prague and the Czech Republic to host the world’s biggest sporting event. The previous attempts in the last century failed due to political issues.
The first serious Olympic candidature proposal was made in December 1920. Its author was Ji?í Guth-Jarkovský, who had been working since 1919 as the International Olympic Committee secretary-general. He became inspired with the concept whilst visiting the Olympic Games in Athens in 1896.
Ji?í Guth-Jarkovský, chief marshal to the president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, persuaded major politicians, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edvard Beneš, about the Olympic Game’s benefits for the Republic. In reality the competition between the five other candidates (Amsterdam, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Roma and Paris) didn’t take place, even though Prague was included in the IOC statistics as a candidate city.
Ji?í Guth-Jarkovský was reportedly persuaded by his friend, French baron Pierre de Coubertin who was a founder of the modern Games. His desire was to say goodbye to the Olympic Games on home territory which was why the Czech capital city didn’t stand as a candidate.
The election was won by Paris and Prague was given, in return, an opportunity to organize VIII International Committee Congress in 1925.
The Congress proved to be a success and the Czech Olympic Committee declared in January 1926 to be in favour of Prague hosting the Olympic Games. There was even an Olympic fund created but in the end the attempt was marred by the start of the Second World War.
The Prague Olympic Games initiative was brought back to life at the end of sixties by the head of the Czech Olympic Committee, Professor Emanuel Bosák. During the candidacy procedure for 1980 the preparatory studies were drawn up. According to them, the central locality was supposed to be at Maniny, the project would have been financially backed by the public purse and in 1968 the government also announced its support. The Warsaw Pact invasion and normalisation put an end to the Olympic dreams. Prague had to make way for Moscow, where the Olympic Games finally took place in 1980. All that Prague was left with was the hotel Olympik, the only reminder of Prague candidacy.
The third nomination attempt doesn’t concern just the capital city. Its motto is “Olympic Games for the Czech Republic” and it should take place in other locations as well. The whole republic’s policy counts on the involvement of all the Czech districts which would host preparatory training camps and serve as Olympic sports facilities.
